Burmeister, Horn Sweep SBC Awards

ATLANTA- The Georgia State men's soccer team swept the Sun Belt Player of the Week awards, the league office announced Tuesday. Sophomore Hannes Burmeister won the Offensive Player of the Week award, his second in a row, while junior Yannic Horn won the Defensive Player of the Week award.

Burmeister scored his second hat trick in as many games to secure the win over Lipscomb on Friday night. Burmeister now has six goals this season, setting a new personal season high for goals after just four games.

With 13 shots so far this season, Burmeister has set his career high for shots in a season. He has nine shots on target to give him a .692 shot on goal percentage. Burmeister also had an assist on the game-winner from Oliver Haines against Central Arkansas, his first assist of the season.

Horn had 14 total saves to help the Panthers go 2-0 this weekend. His nine against Central Arkansas tied for his single-game high set his freshman year. He has 19 saves so far this year.

Horn came up big this weekend, allowing just two goals. He has played all four games for GSU in goal, allowing just four goals all season.

The Panthers will be back on the field in Providence, R.I. this weekend when they play in the Capital City Classic. GSU will face Brown on Friday at 7 p.m. and Providence College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
