Rock Hill, S.C. - The Panthers made their first appearance in the win column on the season, coming from behind to defeat Winthrop by a final score of 3-1 on Saturday evening.
How it Happened
The Panthers and Eagles played to a 0-0 stalemate in the first half, with both starting goalkeepers posting four saves in the first 45 minutes. Those dams finally gave way early in the second half, when the two teams each scored their first goal of the contest within a five minute window. Winthrop was the first to find the back of the net, but Georgia State's
Braiden Hall was quick to tie things back up with his first goal of the season.
Looking to put themselves in position for their first victory, the Panthers turned to the hot hand of Samir-Mohamed Djeha. With just over 17 minutes to play in the contest, Djeha scored unassisted for his second goal in as many games to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Matt Taylor's second goal of the season provided the Panthers with some insurance in the 89th minute, sending his team back to Atlanta with a comfortable 3-1 win.
