Panthers Fall to Mercer on Late Goal

Box Score Macon, Ga. - The Panthers kept Mercer in a deadlocked 0-0 tie for nearly all of Wednesday night's game before allowing the game-winning goal in the 88th minute of the contest.

How it Happened

The Panthers managed four shots on goal to just one for Mercer in the first half, but both goalkeepers were able to keep the opposition off the board. A yellow card for each team did not open up an opportunity for either side.

Looking to break the scoreless tie after halftime, the Panthers wagered seven second half shots. Seeking his second goal in as many games, Braiden Hall recorded his team-best second shot on goal, but the Mercer goalkeeper did not give way.

The two squads seemed destined for a scoreless draw, until Mercer's Junior Casillas broke the stalemate with an 88th minute goal.

Game Notes
  • The Panthers outshot the Bears 14-9
  • Two players played all 90 minutes for Georgia State
  • The two goalkeepers combined to keep the offenses scoreless for the first 87 minutes of the contest
