Arafa Receives SBC All-Conference Honors

ATLANTA- Georgia State senior Suzanne Arafa has been named to the Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference Team as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Arafa was a 2015 All-Sun Belt First Team member and earned NSCAA All-South Region Third Team honors following an outstanding performance last season.

The leading scorer for the Panthers, Arafa had nine goals and five assists last season. She had the winning goal against Troy on Senior Day and two of Georgia State's three goals in the conference tournament.

Arafa ranked second in shots taken last season with 44 and a shot on goal percentage of .386, while also leading the team in points with 23.

The midfielder was given the opportunity to train with the Egyptian National Team this summer as they prepared for the Africa Women Cup of Nations. Due to her impressive performance during training camp, Arafa was added to the squad and will compete with the team for the Cup in Cameroon from Nov. 19 to Dec. 3.

The Panthers will open their regular season at home on Friday, hosting Alabama State in Panthersville at 7 p.m. Parking and admission are free.
