ATLANTA – Georgia State's softball team lost both games Saturday in a doubleheader against No. 5 UL Lafayette at the Bob Heck Softball Complex. GSU fell 4-1 in Game 1 and lost 6-5 in Game 2.

Georgia State battled with the fifth-ranked Ragin' Cajuns in both games, but stranded nine runners in Game 1 and gave up a seventh-inning two-run homerun in Game 2. The Panthers have one more shot at ULL Sunday at noon.

Game 1 | ULL 4, GSU 1

The Panthers matched the Ragin' Cajuns with seven hits each, but the big hit evaded GSU as the Panthers stranded nine runners. Georgia State loaded the bases in the fourth inning, but came away with just one run.

The Ragin' Cajuns scored all four of their runs on a pair of two-run homers. The first came in the fourth inning and the second provided insurance in the top of the seventh.

Katie Worley and Amanda Chance combined to hold the powerful ULL offense to just four runs on seven hits. Worley got the start and lasted four full while striking out four.

Game 2 | ULL 6, GSU 5

Georgia State trailed the Ragin' Cajuns 4-0 in the fifth inning. Mallory Koepke led off the home half and swung at the first pitch, driving a double to the wall in left-center. Ivie Drake followed up Koepke's at-bat with a two-run blast, her tenth long ball of the year, to bring the Panthers within two. After the home run, Georgia State continued to put the ball in play and took advantage of four errors by the ULL defense. Reagan Morgan walked and then came home when a Taylor Anderson bunt turned into a three-base error.

Anderson scored to tie the game on an RBI-single by Mandy Blackwell and the Panthers took the lead when Morgan Brown hit a bouncer back to the pitcher with the bases loaded. ULL's pitcher elected to throw home for the force out, but the throw was wide of the catcher and everybody was safe. After the inning was over, the Panthers had scored five runs on three hits.

With one out in the top of the seventh, the Ragin' Cajuns climbed back on top with a two-run home run by D.J. Sanders. GSU was unable to put anything together in the bottom of the inning and fell to 19-21 on the season while ULL improved to 30-3.
