MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia State was defeated 5-0 by conference-foe South Alabama in the series finale in Mobile Sunday. The loss moves GSU to 19-18 on the season and 4-5 in the Sun Belt.

Georgia State couldn't push a run across the plate, stranding five runners on the day. Ivie Drake led off the game with a single and advanced all the way to third before being stranded. Mandy Blackwell picked up a single to lead off the fifth, but was also left on base as the big hit continued to evade the GSU bats.

South Alabama took a 1-0 lead into the fifth inning and pushed four runs across the plate on three hits and a wild pitch to go on top 5-0. The big blow came with two outs and the bases loaded. The Jaguars popped it up in the infield, but the ball was lost in the sun and two runs came home.

The Panthers looked to rally in the final frame. Arden Jobe drew a two-out walk and Morgan Brown singled to extend her on-base streak to a team-high six games. The Jaguars' Devin Brown finished off the shutout, getting a flyout to end the game.

The Panthers are back in action Wednesday as the team heads across town to face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 6 p.m. GSU hosted GT earlier this season and won 3-2 in the 12-inning contest.
