ATLANTA – Senior Katie Worley pitched a no-hitter to beat Miami (Ohio) 3-0 and freshman Reagan Morgan lined a two-run walkoff single to beat Maryland 4-3, securing two GSU wins at the Panther Invitational Friday at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.

GSU 3, Miami (Ohio) 0

“I wasn't even sure that it was a no-hitter until the final out and my teammates told me,” Worley said. “I knew I was pitching well, but I try to not think about that kind of stuff.”

Worley's second no-hitter in her career helped GSU take down Miami (Ohio) 3-0 in the first of two Panther games Friday. The senior struckout six and walked one through the complete-game shutout to improve to 2-0 on the season and lower her ERA to a team-best 2.02. Worley's run support came from an Ivie Drake home run and a two-run double from Mandy Blackwell in the fifth inning. Blackwell's five RBI lead the team this season.

Worley's first no-hitter came on March 7 last season and was the first for GSU since 2011. Today's seven scoreless innings mark 12 consecutive for Worley without allowing an earned run.

GSU 4, Maryland 3

Georgia State fell behind 1-0 to Maryland in the Panthers' second game of the day. The Terrapins scored in the first off GSU starter Annie Davis, who settled in to allow one earned on just four hits through 5.1 innings. The game took a crazy turn when Maryland made a pithcing change in the fifth inning. The Terps brought in Madison Martin with one out and runners on the corners. Martin was then called for three straight illegal pitches, scoring both runners and giving GSU the 2-1 lead.

Maryland responded in the top of the sixth with two runs of their own after a GSU error extended the inning. For the second time in three days, Georgia State found themselves down one with the game on the line. For the second time in three days, Georgia State rallied to walkoff in front of the home crowd. This time, it was freshman Reagan Morgan who lined a single over the shortstop that scored Cassidy Faulk and Ivie Drake to win it for the Panthers, 4-3.

The Panther Invitational continues with four more games tomorrow, including Georgia State against No. 5 Alabama at 12:30 p.m. The Panthers knocked off the Crimson Tide in 2012 when Alabama was the No. 2 team in the country.
