ATLANTA- The Georgia State men's soccer team will face its final non-conference opponent as they host College of Charleston Wednesday night. The Panthers are 10-6 overall (2-1 Sun Belt) and are on a three-game win-streak, going 2-1 in their last three non-conference games.
Sophomores Hannes Burmeister and Max Hemmings continue to lead the team on the offensive side of the ball, scoring 16 of the team's 32 goals. Burmeister scored the game-winning goal in the 1-0 victory at Appalachian State, his second game-winner of the season.
Junior Rashid Alarape leads the team in assists, helping the Panthers get in the net four times this season. Alarape has scored once this season in the 3-1 victory over Central Arkansas.
The defense has allowed just one goal in the past three games, shutting out both Jacksonville and Appalachian State. GSU has been able to effectively control the ball, holding its past three opponents to three shots on target.
College of Charleston comes to Georgia State at 3-7-3 overall, and 0-2-2 in its last four matches. The team last saw a victory against James Madison, where the Cougars earned a 2-1 overtime victory.
The Panthers and Cougars will face each other for the 22nd time in series history, with CoC holding a 15-6 advantage. The two teams last met in 2014, with Georgia State falling 2-0.
