SAN MARCOS, Texas – Ivie Drake homered and singled to drive in both runs as Georgia Statelost to No. 1 seed UL Lafayette 10-2 in the first game of the double-elimination portion of the Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Drake was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and two RBI. She gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with her 22nd home run of the season. However, the lead was short lived as Lexie Elkins hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame to put ULL up 2-1.

The Ragin' Cajuns extended their lead to 4-1 after three innings on Haley Hayden's RBI single in the second and D.J. Sanders' solo shot in the third. UL Lafayette then pushed its advantage to 7-1 in the fourth on Hayden's two-run homer and Elkins' RBI groundout.

GSU pulled a run back in the top of the fifth. Taylor Bradley and Morgan Brown opened the frame with back-to-back walks. Then after two pop-ups, Drake singled to drive in Bradley and put Panthers on the corners. However, both were stranded when a strikeout ended the threat.

UL Lafayette then scored three in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 9-2. After the Panthers went down in order in the top of the sixth, Kelsey Vincent ended the game with a lead-off, walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame to clinch the 10-2 win.

Georgia State (37-21) will now face No. 6-seed UL Monroe (30-21) in the consolation bracket in an elimination game to narrow the field to three teams. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
