LAFAYETTE, La. – Megan Litumbe launched her 11th homer of the season but it was not enough as the Georgia State softball was defeated by No. 10 UL Lafayette 10-1 in six innings Friday night at Lamson Park.
The Ragin' Cajuns got on the board first with three runs in the bottom of the second to go ahead 3-0. Then after a scoreless third, Litumbe put the Panthers on the board with a solo homer to left center with two outs.
UL Lafayette then responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to push its lead to five after four complete. The Ragin' Cajuns then added a single run in the bottom of the fifth to go up 7-1 after five complete.
In the bottom of the sixth, DJ Sanders hit a three-run walk-off homer to right center to secure the 10-1 run-rule win for the Ragin' Cajuns. Georgia State and No. 10 UL Lafayette return to the field Saturday, April 4 for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
