ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Playing its third match versus a ranked opponent in two days, Georgia State's men's tennis team was edged 4-2 Sunday by No. 39 Pennsylvania in a neutral-site match in Albuquerque, N.M.
Sophomore Jannis Koeke, who recorded two wins against a top-50 player on Saturday, pushed his win streak to four at No. 1 singles with a straight-set win Sunday against Penn's top player. Koeke now boasts a 9-3 record at GSU's top spot. Zack Kennedy earned Georgia State's second point of the day, grinding out a three-set victory at No. 2 singles. He is now 7-4 at No. 2.
Andrei Andrukhou and Felipe Jaworski both took their opponents to three sets, but both came up short. The Quakers won at doubles Nos. 1 and 3 as well to earn the necessary four points to take the match. No. 39 Penn improves to 11-1 on the season.
The Panthers come home this week to host Tennessee Tech Tuesday at Piedmont Park. Tuesday's contest is the first of only two remaining home matches.
