* Georgia State was defeated by No. 24 South Alabama 8-3 in the series finale Sunday afternoon.
* The Panthers drop to 23-10 overall and 5-4 in the Sun Belt this season.
* GSU continues home stand with a doubleheader against Furman on Wednesday, April 1 at 3 p.m.
ATLANTA – Georgia State was defeated by No. 24 South Alabama in the series finale 8-3 at the Robert E. Heck Softball Complex Sunday, March 29. GSU returns to the field Wednesday, April 1 for a doubleheader against Furman beginning at 3 p.m.
Taylor Anderson and Mandy Blackwell both hit solo homers for the Panthers, while Ivie Drake also drove in a run. Anderson and Drake both finished with a team high two hits and Anderson also led the way with two runs scored.
Georgia State took a 1-0 lead after one on Anderson's solo home run to left. South Alabama responded with two runs in the top of the second to take a 2-1 lead. The Jaguars then added three to their lead in the top of the third to go up 5-1.
After South Alabama pushed its lead to 8-1, GSU pulled two runs back in the bottom of the fifth on Blackwell's solo homer and Drake's RBI single. Neither team scored in the final two frames and the Jaguars held on for the 8-3 win to complete the sweep.
