Women's Tennis Survives Tulane, 4-3

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The No. 55 Georgia State women's tennis team defeated Tulane on the road Friday, winning 4-3. 

Senior Abigail Tere-Apisah, ranked 12th in the nation, was upset by No. 75 Klara Vyskocilova 6-2, 6-1. This was the first loss of the spring season for Tere-Apisah.

Marcia Tere-Apisah, Abigail's freshman sister, clinched the match for the Panthers. At No. 3 singles, Tere-Apisah defeated Jacqui Katz 7-5, 7-5. 

Sophomore Linn Timmermann and junior Chaimaa Roudami also picked up wins in singles. Timmermann finished first of the singles players, winning at No. 4 singles against Emily Dvorak 6-1, 6-4. Roudami won at No. 6 singles against Margaux Hyman 6-3, 6-2.

The Panthers also picked up the doubles point. No. 20 pair of Abigail Tere-Apisah and Masa Grgan won at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, against Vyskocilova and Katz. Marcia Tere-Apisah and Tarani Kamoe, at No. 2 doubles, defeate Ipek Birol and Meredith Maltby 8-3. 

The Panthers will face their biggest test of the season Saturday, taking on No. 26 Rice on Saturday at 2 p.m.
