ATLANTA – The Georgia State men's soccer team and head coach Brett Surrency announced the addition of six new members to the program on Feb. 5. The signing class includes three early enrollees and three freshmen who will arrive on campus in the fall. All six signees call Georgia home and possess high levels of high school and club soccer experience and success. |
Rashid Alarape |

Hailing from Stone Mountain, Ga., Alarape will arrive on campus in fall after a very successful high school and club soccer career. He was a three-year letterwinner at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga. and Archer High School in Lawrenceville, Ga. He played all three positions in attack and was named Archer's offensive player of the year in 2012. Alarape played his club soccer for Georgia United and was part of the US Development Academy for two years. He played for the Georgia ODP team for four years, including with the Region 3 ODP team in Mexico. Alarape also trained in Lisbon, Portugal with the Sporting Clube de Protugal Academy. He was an honor roll student all four years of high school. |
“Rashid will bring a great deal of athleticism and explosiveness to the program,” head coach Brett Surrency said. “We anticipate his pace being a huge asset to our front line and causing problems for opposing defenders.” |
Nomis Cisic |

A native of Rijeka, Croatia, Cisic enrolled at Georgia State for the 2014 spring semester after spending two seasons at Clayton State University. While at Clayton State, he appeared in 30 games, including 25 starts, and scored one goal and recorded five assists. A midfielder, Cisic played his high school soccer at Collins Hill in Suwanee, Ga. He was named Region 7 Midfielder of the Year as a senior after scoring 10 goals and registering seven assists. Cisic was a two-time all-county selection and was named to the all-region first team in 2012. He played his club soccer for Norcross 94 Blue. |
“Nomis is a hard working, discipline player and will fit in nicely to our style of play,” Surrency said. “He has been impressive so far during spring training and we anticipate that translating to the fall season.” |
Jad Elkhalil |

Elkhalil, an Atlanta, Ga. native, will join his brother Ali at Georgia State in the fall of 2014. He is a two-time letterwinner playing center forward at Walton High School in Marietta, Ga. Elkhalil led his team to a region championship and a state championship. Elkhalil played club soccer for Georgia United Soccer Alliance and was captain of his NASA Elite club team for two years. He was a member of the Georgia 1996 ODP team for three years and was the top scorer two of three seasons. Elkhalil was a member of the ADDO Leadership Academy and the Beta Club at Walton. He received the Raider Pride Award, Academic Letter Award and was class secretary, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA the past three years. |
“Like his brother, Jad has an incredibly high work rate and couples that with a great frame for a striker,” Surrency said. “We think he has a really high ceiling and look forward to getting him involved into the program.” |
Andrew Thompson |

Haililng from Lawrenceville, Ga., Thompson was a four-year letterwinner playing as a midfielder and defender for Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, Ga. He led his team to the state championship in 2013 Thompson's single-game highlights include scoring seven goals in one match and recording four assists in the state championship game. He played club soccer for Georgia United Soccer Alliance and was a member Georgia ODP team for two years. Thompson was part of the US National Academy for the past two years and finished his first academy game with three assists. He was a recipient of the HOPE Scholarship and participated in Streetwise Georgia ministry. |
“Andrew is a very technical, left footed player that can play in a number of different roles,” Surrency said. “His versatility is one of the things that attracted us the most and we feel he can jump in and compete in a number of different spots.” |
Tristen Trevino |
 |
A native of Athens, Ga., Trevino graduated early and enrolled at Georgia State in Jan. 2014. He was a three-year letterwinner playing as a midfielder for Clarke Central High School in Athens, Ga. As a junior, Trevino was named to the All-Northeast Georgia first team after leading the team to a region title and into the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. He received the Coach Award for exemplary work on and off the field and was named All-Northeast Georgia honorable mention twice. Trevino played club soccer for NASA 15 Elite and participated in the 2012 US Soccer Development Academy with Concorde Fire club team. He was a member of the Georgia ODP team for five years and participated in ODP Region pool play four years. Trevino maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. |
“Tristen has joined us this spring and is really adjusting well to the demands of college soccer,” Surrency said. “He is just a pure soccer player and we think his potential is very high.” |
Greyson Walldorff |

Walldorff, an Atlanta, Ga. native, graduated high school early to enroll at Georgia State in Jan. 2014. He was a two-year letterwinner playing goalkeeper for Ben Franklin Academy in Atlanta, Ga. and Druid Hills High School in Atlanta, Ga. Walldorff led his team to the state championship in 2012 and was named to the Dekalb County All-Star team after his sophomore and junior seasons. He played club soccer for Gwinnett Soccer Association and for Concorde Fire in the US Soccer Development Academy. Walldorff led the Fire to the National League championship and the South Region Premiere League championship in 2012. |
“Greyson is a talented goalkeeper that will come in and compete with our current group of keepers,” Surrency said. “He is very athletic and like many others in this class, posses a very strong work ethic.” |
