Panthers Set to Host UAB, Open Conference Play on the Road

ATLANTA - Georgia State Men's Soccer (1-2-2) will look to even out their record when they host UAB on Monday, September 15, before opening conference play on the road against the University of South Carolina on Friday, September 19. Monday's game will kick off at the GSU Soccer Complex at 7 p.m., while Friday's game will kick off at 7 p.m. with an option to stream online.

PANTHERS GEARING UP FOR CONFERENCE PLAY

An 88th minute goal from Braiden Hall last time out against Lipscomb helped the Panthers avoid being shutout in their home opener. More importantly, the 1-1 draw saved them a point in the standings and puts them in position to even their record at 2-2-2 as they head into conference play.

Hall joined Samir-Mohamed Djeha and Matthew Taylor at the top of the team leaderboard with two goals apiece on the season. Djeha has also provided two assists, including on Hall's equalizer against Lipscomb, for a team best six points on the season.

Goalkeeper Loan Marin has played every minute in goal for the Panthers through five games, and boasts a .619 save percentage in net. He is still on the hunt for his first clean sheet.

Georgia State vs. UAB: Sept. 15 | 7 p.m. | GSU Soccer Complex

The Blazers (1-3-1) travel to Atlanta for the first time since 2023. UAB has faced a strong non-conference schedule that includes No. 6 Clemson. Against common opponent USC Upstate, the Blazers took home their lone win of the season 3-1, while the Panthers played the Spartans to a 2-2 draw. Georgia State holds the all-time lead in the series 6-2-2, but fell 1-0 in their most recent match a year ago.

Georgia State @ South Carolina: Sept. 19 | 7 p.m. | Columbia, S.C. | ESPN+

The Panthers open conference play with a road trip to Columbia to face the 5-2 Gamecocks. South Carolina staged a 2-1 upset over No. 11 UNC Greensboro in their last contest, and will look to carry that momentum into conference play. The Gamecocks suffered a loss to common opponent USC Upstate, while handily defeating Winthrop, a pair against which the Panthers went 1-0-1.
