ATLANTA – Georgia State students, alumni and fans will have the chance to join their peers in a new way to show school spirit in downtown Atlanta this fall on #AllBlueAllIn Thursdays. All fans who wear Georgia Sate blue on Thursdays during home football game weeks can get discounts at local establishments near campus and win prizes.
The initiative will have components both on and off campus starting Thursday, Aug. 29. Fans can enjoy discounts for wearing Georgia State blue to the following #AllBlueAllIn Thursday partners on and around the GSU campus: Waffle House at Piedmont Ave. and Decatur St. (10 percent discount); Reuben's Deli on Broad St. (20 percent); Romeo's Pizza at the University Commons (10 percent); Moe's Original BBQ on 14th St. (15 percent); and the Six Feet Under Grant Park location on Memorial Ave. (10 percent). The first 20 fans wearing Georgia State blue at Willy's Mexicana Grill at Piedmont Ave. and Decatur St. on Thursday will receive a T-shirt or Koozie.
The GSU Athletics marketing department will also set up four locations on campus to pass out #AllBlueAllIn T-shirts around lunchtime. The locations include: outside the Sports Arena, at the University Commons, in the library plaza and outside of Reuben's Deli on Broad Street. Students will be able to get companion tickets at the Sports Arena at the same time.
The events will run on home football game week Thursdays, except for the week of Thanksgiving. The dates are: Aug. 29, Sept. 5, Sept. 19, Oct. 10, Oct. 31 and Nov. 14.
The events will take place on Thursdays after conversations with student leaders. Many schools showcase their school colors on Fridays, but due to normal class schedules on the GSU campus, Thursday was chosen as a better alternative for higher participation among the student groups.
Fans who use social media to tag pictures on the #AllBlueAllIn Thursdays while wearing blue could be reposted to the GSU Athletics social media accounts. One fan each week to receive a prize for the best fan picture submitted.
