TROY, Ala. - Freshman Kristina Stinson had a career night, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers fell 3-1 to the Trojans.
Troy (8-12, 3-3 Sun Belt) defeated Georgia State (5-15, 0-6) 25-17, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15.
Stinson had 11 kills, in addition to two kills and a block. Sophomores Dede Bohannon and Eliza Zachary led the team in kills with 18 and 12 respectively. Bohannon also led all scorers.
Junior Natalia Nieto had 46 assists this match, her second highest total of the season. Senior Emily Averbeck had 19 of Georgia State's 57 digs.
The teams were dead even in kills, with 51 each; however, the Trojans hit .282 compared to the Panthers' .121. The Trojans also had just 14 attacking errors, while Georgia State had 33.
"We need to come back together as a team for tomorrow's match," head coach Tami Audia said. "Offensive errors were made too many times tonight. It is going to take a more aggressive effort on our part to get a win."
The set the Panthers won was the first set they had won since Sept. 29.
The Panthers will have a short turn around, as they take on South Alabama (6-10, 1-5) at 8 p.m. ET Saturday night in Mobile, Ala. The Jaguars defeated Louisiana-Lafayette for their first Sun Belt win Friday night. The Panthers will continue to look for theirs on the Jaguars' home court.
Live stats will be available for the match.
