Tampa, Fla.--Georgia State junior Abigail Tere-Apisah and sophomore Masa Grgan advanced to the finals of the doubles draw to lead the GSU women's tennis team on its third day at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Tampa, Fla.

Tere-Apisah and Grgan defeated Florida State's duo of senior Francesa Segarelli and redshirt freshman Daneika Borthwick 8-5 in the semifinals. GSU's tandem advanced to face the second-seeded team in Georgia's Kate Fuller and Lauren Herring in the finals. The winner of the match earns an invite to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

Freshman Linn Timmermann takes on Florida's Olivia Janowicz, in the finals of the singles back draw. The freshman from Rostock, Germany, has rattled off four singles victories in the last two days to reach the finals. On Sunday she defeated teammate Chaimaa Roudami 6-4, 6-2 before she knocked off Georgia Tech's Megan Kurey 7-5, 6-2 in the semifinals. Timmermann takes on Janowicz on Monday morning at 11 a.m.

Georgia State's region, the Southeast, features six ranked teams from last year's season-ending ITA National Team rankings including back-to-back national champions Florida. The No. 69-ranked Panthers, led by sixth-year head coach Miha Lisac, are joined by Florida (1), Georgia (6), Miami (9), Florida State (40) and South Florida (43).

Tere-Apisah advanced to the singles main draw semifinals before falling in a grueling match to the seventh-seeded Lauren Herring 6-4, 6-4 on Sunday.
