Baseball standout Bradley Logan, cross country and track runner Janel Blancett and golfers Tom Sherreard and Charlotte Lorentzen were honored as Georgia State's Student-Athletes of the Year for 2009-10 at the athletic department's 54th annual Awards and Recognition Banquet, held Tuesday at the GSU Student Center.
Freshman softball pitcher McCall Langford and baseball centerfielder Mark Micowski, a transfer from Vermont, were named Newcomers of the Year.
Senior basketball players Ousman Krubally and Brittany Graham were awarded the Panther Character Awards.
Baseball pitcher David Buchanan and cross country and track runner Caroline Miller earned the Bruce LaBudde Sportmanship Awards, while cross country standout Loris Hutterli and softball pitcher Erin Collins received the Ron Curry Determination Awards.

Georgia State's top scholar-athletes were also recognized at the banquet.
Sherreard, a senior from Maidstone, England, received the Stoney Burgess Award as the senior male student-athlete with the highest grade point average, while volleyball standout Jocelyn Waldern earned the High Five Scholarship Award as the senior female with the top GPA.
The Pickett Riggs Award honors the male and female student-athletes in the junior class with the highest GPA. Cross country runner Amy French and golfer Alan Fowler earned those awards.
The women's tennis and men's golf teams were honored as the teams with the highest combined grade point averages.
The GSU women's basketball team won the CHAMPS/Life Skills Cup as the most active in community service and support of other Panther teams.
Cheerleader Jacque Nelson and band member Eric Vogel received the Susan Reeves Spirit Awards.
The Georgia State 3.0 Club was also honored, recognizing all student-athletes who have maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA after completing at least 30 hours at Georgia State. All 80 members are listed below.
BRITTANY GRAHAM, PANTHER CHARACTER AWARD
Basketball standout Brittany Graham became the first Georgia State Panther to receive the Colonial Athletic Association's highest honor, the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award, which recognizes the student-athlete who "embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity and sportsmanship, in conjunction with their academic and athletic achievements." On the court, Brittany is a team leader and captain as well as one of the top three-pointer shooters in the CAA. Also an outstanding student, she used her journalism skills to write diaries for the athletics website and to serve as a sideline reporter on a CAA basketball telecast. An active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, she organized and led numerous community service projects for her team, and she was chosen to represent GSU at the NCAA Leadership Conference.
OUSMAN KRUBALLY, PANTHER CHARACTER AWARD
A crowd favorite at the Sports Arena, this basketball standout joined the program as a walk-on and quickly became known for his hustle, determination and hard-nosed play. His hard work paid off as he developed into a starting post player and the Panthers' leading rebounder as a senior. Georgia State's nominee for the CAA's Dean Ehlers Leadership Award, Ousman has participated in numerous community service efforts, including the American Heart Association Heart Walk, the M-S Society Bike Ride, After School All-Stars, the Parkside Elementary School Fall Festival and the Big Brothers Big Sisters picnic. He has received the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award and was honored by the Georgia State Chapter of the NAACP as Athlete of the Year. He will graduate this semester in marketing.
CAROLINE MILLER, BRUCE LABUDDE SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
This cross country and track standout displayed true sportsmanship on April 3 of this year. While running a 5,000-meter race at Jacksonville State, she stopped to help an unfortunate fellow competitor who had fallen during the race. Caroline has been active in community service events, and she supports her teammates on and off the track.
DAVID BUCHANAN, BRUCE LABUDDE SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
Although he was a sixth-round selection in last year's Major League Baseball Draft, David elected to forgo professional baseball in order to continue his education, establish himself as a student-athlete and become a key member of the Georgia State baseball program. The Panthers' top starting pitcher ranks among the conference leaders in victories and strikeouts and was honored as CAA Pitcher of the Week. Even when he is not pitching, he is a very positive force on the team, always encouraging his teammates and eager to contribute in any way. He is also a conscientious student who in active in the community and his church.
ERIN COLLINS, RON CURRY DETERMINATION AWARD
A standout pitcher for the Georgia State softball program, Erin Collins has overcome family tragedy to remain on track academically and become a key contributor on this year's team.
The sophomore from Lawrenceville, Ga., is the Panthers' top relief pitcher with a 3-2 record and a 2.70 earned run average, helping Georgia State to another 30-win season and a second-place standing in the Colonial Athletic Association.
LORIS HUTTERLI, RON CURRY DETERMINATION AWARD
This cross country standout from Switzerland missed the entire 2008 season due to injury, but through hard work and determination, he not only returned to form but enjoyed a career-best year in 2009 while also excelling in graduate school. Loris had his best finish of the season at the CAA Championship meet with an eighth-place showing to earn all-conference honors. Two weeks later at the NCAA Regional Championships, he posted a 25th place showing while running a personal-best time to earn All-Region accolades.
McCALL LANGFORD, NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR
This Georgia State freshman has made an immediate impact as one of the CAA's top rookies and the top pitcher for Panther team that stands second in the conference. Working as both a starter and a reliever, the lefthanded hurler ranks third in the CAA in victories with 12 and fourth in earned run average at 1.47 while leading the conference with four saves. A native of LaGrange, Ga., McCall also ranks among the national leaders in fewest walks allowed, and she has twice honored as CAA Rookie or Pitcher of the Week.
MARK MICOWSKI, NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR
In his first season at Georgia State, Mark Micowski immediately established himself as one of the top outfielders and hitters in the Colonial Athletic Association. The junior from Haddam, Conn., is batting over .400 while leading the CAA in runs scored and playing outstanding defense in center field. Batting leadoff, he keys a Georgia State offense that leads the nation in batting average and runs per game. On March 7, not only was he named CAA Player of the Week but he also took home National Player of the Week accolades.
JANEL BLANCETT, STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Janel Blancett is a standout in both cross country and track as one of the top distance runners in the Colonial Athletic Association. The senior from Chamblee, Ga., made history last fall by becoming just the second runner in GSU history to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships. She placed 47th at the national meet, just 10 seconds away from making All-American. She is a two time all-region honoree, a two-time all-conference selection and the former CAA Athlete of the Year for cross country. In track and field, she qualified for NCAA regionals last spring and looks to again this year. Her success is also evident in the classroom as Janel has earned the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award and has been named to the All-Academic Cross Country team by the coaches' association.
CHARLOTTE LORENTZEN, STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Charlotte Lorentzen was the individual champion and Most Outstanding Performer at the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Championships, leading Georgia State to its second straight CAA title. The sophomore from Soroe, Denmark fired a three-under par 69 on the final day to post the best round of the tournament and win the championship by 10 strokes, tying the CAA record for largest margin of victory. Earlier this spring, she shot a career-best 68, and she leads the league in scoring average. She grabbed three CAA Player of the Week awards en route to first-team all-CAA honors, and last year she was the CAA Rookie of the Year. Charlotte is also a Dean's List student and CAA Commissioner's Award recipient.
TOM SHERREARD, STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
The latest in Georgia State's tradition of outstanding men's golfers, TOM SHERREARD was selected to the Colonial Athletic Association's 25th Anniversary team as one of the Top 25 golfers in league history. This year, he earned All-CAA honors for the third straight year, and he has also earned All-Region and CAA All-Tournament accolades in his career. The senior from Maidstone, England, helped the Panthers reach three straight NCAA Regionals. An outstanding student majoring in Psychology, Tom is also a two-time selection as the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's golf, and he captured this year's Stoney Burgess Award as the Georgia State senior male student-athlete with the highest GPA.
BRADLEY LOGAN, STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
A mainstay on the Georgia State baseball diamond for four seasons, BRADLEY LOGAN is the cleanup hitter and emotional leader for a Panther team that leads the nation in batting average, runs per game and slugging percentage. He is enjoying his best season as a senior, batting .398 with a team-leading 10 home runs and 45 RBI. The Augusta, Ga., native is rewriting the GSU record book, becoming the Panthers all-time leader and ranking in the Top 10 in CAA history in numerous categories, including hits, RBIS, doubles, at-bats and total bases. Most importantly, Bradley is the "winningest" player in Georgia State baseball history; he has been part of more victories than any other Panther player, and he was the Most Outstanding Player in leading Georgia State to the 2009 CAA Championship.
