Blood Drive Underway TODAY !

Georgia State's 5th annual CAA Blood Challenge will be held TODAY, Tuesday, Sept. 22, on the fourth floor of the Sports Arena. Come join the 417 who had already made reservations to donate and the first ones who showed up to register this morning. Please come help us break the state record for single-day school donation.

This annual blood drive is the 8th-ever competition among the 12 CAA universities to see who can get the most donors in this life-saving project. Georgia State partners with the American Red Cross for its annual drive.

The drive had been at maximum capacity in previous years and the Red Cross is increasing its staff and helpers to ensure a fast, smooth day this year. The Panthers have finished third among the 12 schools and want to set yet another school record and state of Georgia one-day drive record. We need YOUR help.

Prizes will be distributed throughout the day by the Athletics Department.

Participants are encouraged to REGISTER NOW and get an APPOINTMENT TIME to speed along the process.

Go to www.givelife.org and enter the sponsor code: georgiasu. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. - 6 p.m

This year as part of the drive the American Red Cross is opening its seven Metro Donor Centers to Georgia State alumni and friends, who in turn will be able to stop by any metro donor center to donate; that donation will be counted towards the total number of donors for the Challenge.

Anyone who is interested in participating should contact the donor center to make an appointment for, Tuesday, September 22. When you arrive at the center to donate make sure you let them know you are with Georgia State University to assure your donation counts for the Challenge. The CAA Blood Challenge was developed by the conference presidents as a way of emphasizing the critical importance of donating blood. It is also in keeping the Georgia State athletic director Cheryl L. Levick's goal for the department to produce more than 3,000 hours of volunteer community service time.
