ATLANTA--The Georgia State football program will hold its third round of walk-on tryouts for members of the student body on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. athe NFL YET practice facility near campus.

Panther football begins play in 2010 but the team is practicing this fall with a squad of 70 players, including 30 scholarship student-athletes.

Several of the walk-ons currently on the team participated in open tryouts that the program held last year in October and again in April.

ABOUT THE TRYOUTS:

Walk-on tryouts for the Georgia State football team are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the NFL YET practice facility near campus (535 Hill Street).

Tryouts are open to current GEORGIA STATE STUDENTS ONLY. You must be enrolled this semester as a full-time student, and you must be a freshman or sophomore.

All tryout participants must REGISTER by Aug. 26 in order to complete paperwork for NCAA compliance, academic standing and medical clearance.

In order to register for tryouts, please print the attached registration form, complete all information and take it to the Georgia State football office, located in the Citizens Trust Building (75 Piedmont Avenue), Suite 926. After visiting the football office, tryout candidates will be directed to the sports medicine, academic services and compliance offices, all located in the Sports Arena.

Please do not wait until Aug. 26 to begin the registration process. If you do not complete all necessary paperwork by the Aug. 26 deadline, you will not be permitted to participate in the tryouts. NO EXCEPTIONS. No walkups will be allowed to participate.

Participants should report promptly at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 26. Tryouts will be non-contact, with participants demonstrating speed, agility and football skills. Dress is shorts and sneakers or turf shoes. The NFL YET facility is located at 535 Hill Street. Limited street parking is available in the area.
