M Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to UCF

ORLANDO (Mar. 5, 2008) After grabbing the doubles point, Central Florida cruised to a 6-1 victory over Georgia State on Wednesday at the at the UCF Tennis Complex. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 1-9 overall while the Golden Knights improve to 4-5.

The Golden Knights took two straight victories in doubles competition to earn the point. Johan Beigart and Brock Sakey took down
William Adeimy and Trenton Spinks early at No. 2 with an 8-2 victory. Tarek Ben Soltane and Blaze Schwartz followed up with an 8-4 win over Aleksandar Elezovic and Ross Hopper at No. 3, to earn the doubles point. Nejc Podkrajsek and Anze Cevka earned the Panthers' only doubles point winning the tiebreaker over Claudio Romano and Sinan Sudas at No. 1, but it was all too late.

UCF never looked back as they entered singles competition picking up two quick victories over Hopper at No. 6 and Spinks at No. 5 en route to five straight singles wins. Podkrajsek earned the Panthers single point at No. 1 singles, defeating Johan Beigart 6-3, 7-6 to make the final score 6-1.

Georgia State travels to Tampa on Thursday to take on No. 55 South Florida at 1 p.m. at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
