Women's Tennis Falls 6-1

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (02/16/07) ? Martina Nitkova captured the only point for Georgia State women's tennis as it fell to UAB 6-1 at the Brook Highland Racquet Club on Friday afternoon.  State drops to 4-3 on the season while UAB improved to 2-0.

 

Juniors Rachel Malina and Mateja Podgorsek fought valiantly in singles action before bowing to their opponents in three sets. Nitkova and Kiera Strickland prevented a doubles sweep with an 8-5 victory at the No. 2 position.

 

State will travel cross town to Emory for a dual match at 4:00 p.m. on February 23.
