UTRECHT, Netherlands - In a battle for bragging rights and country, Georgia State Lady Panther teammates Joanna Klatten (Paris, France) and Anna Scott (Consett, England) competed for France and England, respectively, at the European Lady Junior Team (Under 21) Championship from July 11-15 at the Golf Club de Pan in the Netherlands.

In the final rankings, third-seeded Sweden topped No. 1 seed Spain for the team championship crown. England, the No. 2 seed, bested fourth-seeded France to finish in third.

The event included 14 European countries with six golfers each. Individuals competed for their respective countries over two days in qualifying matches to determine seeds heading into bracket play. Klatten, a rising junior on the Lady Panther women's golf team and the school's first-ever female golfer to compete at the NCAA Championships, carded a 74-77=151 as a member of France's squad during qualifying action and Scott, also a rising sophomore, fired a 78-76=154 for England.

Using a match play format that included two doubles teams and five individuals, France defeated No. 5 seed Netherlands, 5-2, and England won out over seventh-seeded Belgium, 5-2, in first round contests. Klatten fell 4&2 to her opponent, Christel Boeljon, while Scott did not compete in the first round.

In round two, Klatten's France team lost to Spain, 5-2, and Sweden bested Scott's England squad, 4-3. Klatten did not compete in the second round, while Scott, and her teammate Florentyna Parker, fell 4&2 to Sweden's duo of Pernilla Lindberg and Py Bengtsson.

The losses pitted England against France in the third and final round of the team championship, which England won 4-3. Scott and teammate Jodi Ewart finished 1-up in a playoff at the "20th" hole over Elena Giraud and Isabelle Boineau. Klatten was also victorious, 2&1, over her opponent Felicity Johnson.

Klatten and Scott are members of two straight Georgia State teams that have captured conference championships and advanced to the NCAAs. Scott, a 2006 all-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) first-team honoree, fired a season stroke average of 75.54 in 2005-06 and owns a career stroke average of 76.87. Klatten, a member of the 2006 CAA all-tournament team, owned a 76.54 stroke average in 2005-06 and for her career is at 77.35.
