Kozmina keeps Georgia State alive at ITA Regionals

Tuscaloosa, Ala. (10/20/06) - Sophomore Dariana Kozmina advances to the round of 16 in the A draw at the Wilson/ITA Fall South Regional Championships on Friday at the Alabama Tennis Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala. hosted by the University of Alabama.  She dropped Troy's Rowia Elsisi in straight sets and will face Georgia Tech's Alison Silverio at 12:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.  Junior Rachel Malina won her first match of the tournament against Bethune-Cookman's Kiara Powell in three sets then fell to Miranda Foley from Florida State in two sets.

Kozmina and sophomore Martina Nitkova were downed in their doubles match against Auburn's Fani Chifchieva and Alex Haney. Malina and freshman Emma Stahl-Johansson were victorious in their doubles match against a Stetson team before falling to a duo from Alabama.
