NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Georgia State fell to Belmont, 16-3, on Saturday evening at E.S. Rose Park.
The Panthers move to 8-4 on the season, while Belmont improves to 4-7.
Belmont took control early, scoring eight runs in the first inning and adding six more in the second to build a 14-0 advantage. The Bruins collected 15 hits in the contest and capitalized on three Georgia State errors in the opening two frames.
Georgia State got on the board in the third inning. Austin Sellers drew a walk before Jae Williams connected on a two-run home run to right field, trimming the deficit to 14-2.
The Panthers added another run in the fourth. Adam Haber doubled to center field and later scored on an RBI single by Sam Silas to make it 15-3.
Williams finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored to lead the Panthers offensively. Haber recorded a double and scored once, while Silas added an RBI. Georgia State was limited to four hits in the contest.
Joshua Evans (0-1) was charged with the loss after allowing six runs in the first inning. Nicholas Holbrook provided 4.2 innings of relief and struck out seven.
Georgia State and Belmont will conclude the series Sunday afternoon in Nashville.
