Atlanta, GA - Georgia State Baseball found time between rain storms on Saturday afternoon to honor their graduating seniors with a pregame Senior Day celebration. The Panthers went on to fall to visiting Marshall by a final score of 13-3 in seven innings.
Shortly after honoring seniors
Brooks Gorman,
Jesse Donohoe,
Cole Griffith,
Colin Hynek,
Michael Maginnis,
Nick Holbrook,
Caleb White,
Ryan Lamar,
Dylan Matela,Â
Kaleb Freeman, and their families, the Panthers went to work on offense. A walk and two hit batsmen loaded the bases before the Thundering Herd could record their first out of the game.
Michael Maginnis was able to bring home leadoff hitter
Kaleb Freeman for an early 1-0 lead.
Marshall struck twice in the top of the second, but a
Jesse Donohoe RBI in the bottom of the frame brought the score back to even, 2-2.Â
A loud three-spot in the top of the third put the visitors on top 5-2, but a run from
Wills Maginnis cut the deficit to two after three full innings.Â
The fifth and sixth innings saw Marshall take control of the game, stretching their lead to 9-3 after five and 13-3 after six.
With raindrops beginning to fall again after a brief hiatus, the visitors held off the Georgia State offense to complete a seven-inning, run-rule victory.
The Panthers will return for their final game at the GSU Baseball Complex on Sunday for what is scheduled to be a noontime first pitch.
