Five Panthers Score Double Digits in 110-72 Victory Against Columbia College

ATLANTA-- Five Panthers scored at least 10 points as Georgia State took down the 110-72 at home Sunday.

"I think we were starting to play some of our best basketball now," Head coach Jonas Hayes said. "We're playing a connected brand of basketball that I think willl lead to some sustained success." 

Micah Tucker led the Panthers with 24 points in a birthday show out. Malachi Brown added 17 points and five assists and Jelani Hamilton helped out with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and a career-high five steals.

Anthony Enoh pulled down three offensive rebounds to lead the Georgia State offense which grabbed 15 boards and turned them into 14 second chance points.

The Georgia State defense caused its share of mistakes in Sunday's game, forcing 18 turnovers while committing five. Those takeaways turned into 23 points on the other end of the floor. Hamilton's five steals led the way individually for the Panthers.


How It Happened

After jumping out to a 46-36 advantage, Georgia State went on an 8-0 run with 2:04 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Hamilton, to increase its lead to 54-36. The Panthers then maintained that lead and entered halftime with a 56-38 advantage. Georgia State relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down nine shots to account for 27 of its 56 points.

Following intermission, Georgia State kept widening that lead, expanding it to 90-64 before going on a 13-0 run to grow the lead to 103-64 with 2:45 to go in the contest. The narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Panthers still cruised the rest of the way for the 110-72 win. Georgia State shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting eight shots from deep to score 24 of its 54 points.
