Hamilton’s 24 Points Power Panthers to Road Win at App State

BOONE, NC --Jelani Hamilton scored 24 points to help lead the Georgia State men's basketball team past the Appalachian State Mountaineers 70-63 on the road Saturday.

Georgia State led for most of the afternoon and closed strong at the free-throw line, shooting 15-for-20 (75.0%) from the stripe while holding App State to 38.9% shooting from the field. The Panthers outscored the Mountaineers 39–35 in the second half to secure the win.

Jelani Hamilton led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting, adding five rebounds and five assists. Micah Tucker followed with 12 points and a team-high five assists, while Anthony Enoh contributed 10 points and nine rebounds in 37 minutes of action.

Georgia State took a 31–28 lead into halftime after shooting 44.4% from the floor in the opening half. The Panthers opened the second half with an early surge, pushing the margin to nine following a three-pointer from Enoh and never relinquished control down the stretch.

Trey Scott III provided a spark off the bench, finishing with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including three made three-pointers. The Panthers also held a 38–30 rebounding advantage and totaled 20 bench points.

App State was led by Alonzo Dodd's 19 points, while Luke Wilson added 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Mountaineers cut the deficit to single digits late, but Georgia State sealed the game by converting 14 free throws in the second half.

The win improves Georgia State to 3–10 overall, and 1–1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
