AUBURN, Ala. – The Georgia State women's basketball team (2-3, SBC 0-0) stunted the Auburn Tigers (5-0, SEC 0-0) to just 13.3 percent from three-point range (2-for-15), but the Panthers came up short in a 69-65 road matchup Monday night at Neville Arena.
Kaleigh Addie led Georgia State with 18 points, while Crystal Henderson matched her with 18 points and added two steals. Morgan Robinson-Nwagwu turned in a near double-double, finishing with nine points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
How It Happened
Georgia State kept it close in the first quarter, but entered the second frame down 13-9.
Georgia State then started off the second quarter by going on a 5-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Ari Dyson, to take a 14-13 lead. The Tigers then came roaring back to take a 28-22 lead heading into halftime.
Auburn continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 37-26 advantage before Georgia State went on a 12-0 run to grab a 38-37 lead with 4:41 to go in the third. Auburn responded to seize a 51-44 lead entering the fourth quarter. Georgia State knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter to score nine of its 22 total points.
Georgia State came out of the third quarter break clicking on all cylinders, going on a 6-0 run, finished off by Dyson's layup, to shrink the deficit to 51-50 with 8:25 to go in the contest. Auburn responded and outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 69-65.
