ATLANTA, GA --Cesare Edwards scored 21 points, but the Georgia State men's basketball team fell to the Marshall Thundering Herd 92-79 at home Thursday.
" Tough one at home," head coach Jonas Hayes said. "I think our guys showed a ton of effort today, but I've gotta give it to Marshall for their performance."
The Panthers (7-13, 3-5) had four players score in double figures, led by Edwards, who had 21 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Toneari Lane added 18 points and two steals and Nick McMullen helped out with a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
McMullen pulled down five offensive rebounds to lead the Georgia State offense which grabbed 14 boards and turned them into 14 second chance points.

How It Happened
After falling behind 10-4, Georgia State went on a 13-0 run with 15:18 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Jelani Hamilton, to take a 17-10 lead. The Panthers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 41-40 advantage. Georgia State did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 26 of its 41 points close to the basket.
Marshall proceeded to take a 55-54 lead before Georgia State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Edwards' layup, to seize a 60-55 lead with 12:01 to go in the contest. Marshall re-asserted control, outscoring the Panthers 37-19 the rest of the way to hand Georgia State the 92-79 loss.
