ATLANTA, GA --Cesare Edwards totaled 20 points, but the Georgia State men's basketball team fell to the James Madison Dukes 86-79 at home Saturday.
The Panthers (7-14, 3-6) had four players score in double figures, led by Edwards, who had 20 points. Toneari Lane tacked on 19 points and Nick McMullen chipped in as well with 15 points and nine rebounds.
The Georgia State offense was strong from deep, making 13 threes on 29 attempts. Lane hit five treys for the Panthers in the contest.
How It Happened
After falling behind 47-33, Georgia State went on a 6-0 run with six seconds left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from McMullen, to narrow its deficit to 47-39, a score that would hold until halftime.
James Madison kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 80-67 advantage before Georgia State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Edwards' three, to shrink the deficit to 80-73 with 26 seconds to go in the contest. The Panthers were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 86-79. Georgia State shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting seven shots from deep to score 21 of its 40 points.
