Georgia State Suffers 3-1 Defeat to Memphis

ATLANTA, -- Georgia State fell 3-1 at home to Memphis Sunday (Sept. 8) at GSU Soccer Complex. Matthew Taylor scored the lone Panther goal in the 81st minute assisted by Cole Biasi.  

How it Happened

Memphis broke the 0-0 tie when Lleyton Imparato scored in the sixth minute, assisted by Anders Bordoy.

The Tigers took a 2-0 lead on a goal from Lucho Galizzi in the 14th minute, assisted by Anthony Difalco.

Memphis pulled ahead 3-0 on Logan Longo's 70th-minute goal, assisted by Imparato.

The Panthers got on the board with an 81st-minute goal from Matt Taylor, his second goal of the season. Cole Biasi added his first career assist.  Neither team scored again in the match.

Game Notes

  • Josue Hangi piled up five saves for the Panthers out of 15 total Tigers shots.
  • Georgia State totaled three shots on goal.

The loss dropped Georgia State's record to 1-3-1 overall.

The Panthers return to the pitch on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:00 p.m. as they take on USC Upstate at the GSU Soccer Complex.
