ATLANTA -- Georgia State dropped its series opener to Old Dominion 6-4 Thursday at the GSU Baseball Complex.

Maximus Martin and Brennan Hudson homered for the Panthers (24-30, 12-16 Sun Belt), but ODU's Maverick Stallings hit the go-ahead 3-run homer in the sixth inning.

Martin, the sophomore shortstop, led off the game for GSU by homering for the third straight game. One inning later, first baseman Brennan Hudson blasted his 11th home run of the season to give GSU a 2-1 lead. Those two homers give Georgia State a Sun Belt Conference-leading 102 on the season, including 19 in the last five games.

After ODU (28-23, 14-14) tied the game in the fourth, Georgia State's Will Mize drove in his team-leading 59th run of the season with an RBI-single in the fifth for a 3-2 Panther lead.

But Stallings put the Monarchs ahead for good with his 3-run shot in the sixth. Georgia State got one back on Jesse's Donohoe's sacrifice fly but could get no closer.

The series continues with a noon game Friday at the GSU Baseball Complex.
