Troy, Ala. -- Georgia State got two home runs and three RBI from
JoJo Jackson and solo homers from
Brennan Hudson and
Michael Maginnis but fell 10-7 in Sunday's series finale at Troy.
Before today's series finale, the teams completed Game 2 of the series. Georgia State scored two runs in the ninth before falling 9-5 as Troy won the series, two games to one.
In Game 3,
Brennan Hudson led off the scoring with a towering solo homer over the right wall in the second inning, but Troy answered with a 2-run homer by Kyle Mock in the bottom of the second.
JoJo Jackson tied the game in the fourth with the first of his two homers on the day, and then Georgia State (20-19, 10-8 Sun Belt) took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning on Maginnis' solo homer, his team-leading ninth of the season. But Troy ( ) regained the advantage with four runs in the bottom half.
Jackson hit his second solo homer of the game in the sixth to cut the GSU deficit to 6-4. Troy added four more runs in the seventh on Blake Bryan's grand slam to take a 10-4 lead, but the Panthers continued to fight with three runs in the seventh. Jackson and
Maximus Martin delivered an RBI-singles and
Matt Ruiz brought home another run on a double play, but the Panthers could get no closer.
Game 2 began at Saturday afternoon but was suspended by weather after two innings before resuming four hours later. The teams endured another suspension in the top of the ninth and then completed the game Sunday before the series finale.Â
Will Mize hit a 3-run homer for the Panthers in the third inning after the first weather delay, and the Panthers added two more runs Sunday in the ninth inning on run-scoring singles by
Ryan Dyal and
JoJo Jackson.
Georgia State plays midweek games vs. Alabama State Tuesday and at Presbyterian Wednesday before hosting Appalachian State next  weekend.
