ATLANTA --
Brennan Hudson's 2-run walk-off home run lifted Georgia State to its sixth straight win, 12-11 over Army Saturday night at the GSU Baseball Complex.
The Panthers (8-6) entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 10-9. After
Will Patota's leadoff single, the left-handed hitting Hudson hit the 0-1 pitch over the left field wall for the walk-off win.Â
Sophomore right-hander
Davis Chastain (1-1) earned the victory by pitching three scoreless innings with five strikeouts.Â
Will Mize hit two homers for Georgia State, and
Ryan Dyal added a solo shot.Â
Georgia State trailed 8-4 before scoring four runs in the fifth inning. After Mize led off with a 448-foot homer to left field,
JoJo Jackson singled with one out, moved to second on a throwing error and then scored on
Will Patota's RBI-single. Hudson walked to put runners at first and second for
Kameron Douglas, who doubled to right center; Patota scored, but Hudson was cut down at the plate, bringing GSU within 8-7. Then
Taylor Shultz tied the game with a single to left center.
Army added three runs in the sixth to regain the lead at 11-8, but Georgia State answered in the bottom half as Mize hit his second straight homer, this one a 2-run blast to make it 11-10, setting the stage for Hudson's walk-off.
The Panthers have trailed in the sixth inning or later in their last three victories.Â
The series concludes with a doubleheader Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m.
