Panthers Fall 77-63 to Charlotte

ATLANTA, GA --The Georgia State men's basketball team kept Charlotte to just 14.3 percent from 3-point range in a 2-for-14 shooting performance, but fell 77-63 to the 49ers at home Saturday.

The Panthers (4-6) had three players score in double figures, led by Zarique Nutter, who had 19 points. Nick McMullen tacked on 13 points and six rebounds and Toneari Lane chipped in as well with 13 points and six rebounds.

McMullen pulled down five offensive rebounds to pace the Georgia State offense which grabbed 15 boards and turned them into 10 second chance points.

Georgia State forced 13 Charlotte turnovers. The Panthers turned those takeaways into 12 points on the other end of the floor. Darnell Evans led the way individually with three steals.

How It Happened

Georgia State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 32-25 heading into halftime.

Charlotte kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 71-56 advantage before Georgia State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Lane's layup, to shrink the deficit to 71-61 with 1:34 to go in the contest. Charlotte responded and outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 77-63. Georgia State made the most of eight offensive rebounds to tack on six second chance points out of 38 total in the period.
