Panthers Earn 4-set Win over UL Monroe

ATLANTA, GA --The Georgia State volleyball team got the job done in four sets (25-13, 17-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19) to knock off the UL Monroe Warhawks Thursday at home at GSU Sports Arena.

The victory moved the Panthers' record to 15-12 overall and 6-9 in Sun Belt play.

The Panthers offense was paced by Keionna MacKey, who finished with 13 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .357. Myllena Torquetti added 12 and Alessia Cappai chipped in with 10 as part of balanced Georgia State attack. got 15 digs from Kaleigh Fitzgerald to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Panthers grabbed control on the first point and never looked back to win the first set 25-13. Georgia State opened up its biggest lead, 12 points, to finish off the set. Georgia State also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.

SET 2 | Georgia State fell in set two 25-17 to even the match 1-1. Georgia State trailed by as many as eight points as UL Monroe grabbed the advantage for good at 12-11 in a set that was tied up three times before the Warhawks took over the lead.

SET 3 | Georgia State put the second-set loss in the rearview mirror and took a 2-1 match lead with a victory in set three. The Panthers took the set 25-19 thanks to a solid showing on the attacking end. Georgia State registered a .394 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set win. The Panthers ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza.

SET 4 | Georgia State kept the momentum going, ending the match with a 25-19 fourth-set victory. The Panthers took the lead for good at 14-13 in a set that featured seven ties and five lead changes. Georgia State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set.

The Panthers are back at home tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. to take on ULM.
