THE TIPOFF: Coming off a 90-76 win at South Alabama, Georgia State returns home to open a Sun Belt Conference weekend by hosting Old Dominion Thursday at 7 p.m. at the GSU Convocation Center. The Panthers then host rival Georgia Southern Saturday at 5 p.m.Â

Lucas Taylor scored 22 points and
Toneari Lane had 20 in the 90-76 win at South Alabama. Georgia State shot a season-high 55 percent, including 10-for-21 on 3-pointers as Lane nailed six treys. The Panthers shot almost 60 percent in the second half to turn a two-point halftime lead into the 14-point victory.
Jay'Den Turner notched his third straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Leslie Nkereuwem added 13 points and seven rebounds, and
Dwon Odom and
Brenden Tucker scored 10 points apiece.

Dwon Odom is off to a hot start in conference play, averaging 16 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 56.7 percent from the field. He scored a season-high 24 points against Arkansas State, including the deciding free throws with 7.8 seconds left, and then he had 14 points and a career-high 11 rebounds at Southern Miss. He added 10 points and four assists in the win at South Alabama.
> Odom, the Preseason All-Sun Belt guard and GSU's top returning scorer, is averaging 11.6 points, 5.2 rebounds (second on team) and 4.3 assists per game. He is third in the Sun Belt in assists and second in assist-to-turnover ratio at +2.4.
> Odom is the only Sun Belt player who is averaging at least four assists AND five rebounds per game.

Jay'Den Turner leads the Panthers and ranks No. 6 in the Sun Belt with 8.4 rebounds per game, along with 11.0 points. He has opened Sun Belt play with three straight double doubles: 13 ppts/12 rb vs. Arkansas State, 15 pts/11 rb vs. Southern Miss and 11 pts/10 rb vs. South Alabama.Â
> Four of the Panthers' top five scorers are transfers:

Lucas Taylor is the Panthers' leading scorer at 14.1 points per game, which ranks 10th in the Sun Belt. The Wake Forest transfer poured in a career-high 27 points in the 77-70 win at Western Michigan and 22 points in the win at South Alabama. He has reached double figures in every game but two.

Toneari Lane, the transfer from Winthrop, is second in the Sun Belt with 2.7 3-pointers per game and second in percentage at .325.Â
> Lane scored 20 points in the win at South Alabama, going 6-for-12 from 3-point range. Earlier this season, he scored a career-high 23 points in each of the back-to-back wins over Little Rock.

Brenden Tucker, another Preseason All-Sun Belt selection, reached the 1,000-point milestone for his career vs. Middle Georgia State. He averaged 12.9 ppg for the Panthers last season after scoring 569 points in three seasons at Charleston.Â

> In the overtime win at Little Rock, the Panthers went 22-for-22 at the free throw line in the second half and 29-for-34 in the game, and in the win over Arkansas State, GSU hit 23-of-28.

SERIES NOTES: Old Dominion leads the overall series 19-6, but the teams have split the last eight meetings.Â
> ODU won both meetings last season, 70-58 in Norfork and 63-60 in Atlanta. Georgia State's last win in the series was a 68-64 victory in Atlanta on Dec. 12, 2015.
