Panthers Drop 4-set Match at Furman

GREENVILLE, SC --The Georgia State volleyball team fell Friday at Furman, which posted a four set (21-25, 26-24, 20-25, 23-25) at the Alley Gym.

Erin Wyatt finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Panthers attack. Defensively, had three players reach double figures in digs, including Livy Kowalkowski's 24, 11 from Jenna Brown, and 11 more from Wyatt. From the front row, Akira Burt contributed six blocks and Izzy Durnell added five rejections.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Panthers found themselves in an early deficit, losing the first set 25-21. Furman grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 in a set that was knotted up two times before the Lady Paladins took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 2 | Georgia State fired back after dropping the first set to take set two 26-24, evening the match at 1-1. The Panthers came out on top of a tight second set, winning in a stanza that was tied up once and had one lead change. Georgia State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Furman attacks in the stanza.

SET 3 | Georgia State dropped set three, putting the Panthers in a 2-1 hole. The Panthers came up short by the score of 25-20. Furman grabbed the advantage for good at 20-19 in a set that was tied up 11 times before the Paladins took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 4 | Georgia State then fell in the fourth set 25-23 to finish off the match. Furman grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 and Georgia State wasn't able to recover in a set that was tied up five times before the Paladins took over in the second half of the stanza.
