SPARTANBURG, SC --Amanda Albertini and Jahniya Jackson contributed eight kills each as the Georgia State volleyball team took care of business in straight sets (25-17, 25-22, 26-24) to knock off Elon Friday at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in the first game of the Wofford/USC Upstate Invitational
The non-conference win improved the Panthers' overall record to 3-1 on the season. Georgia State will back in action Friday night at 7 p.m. against Wofford.
Albertini collected her eight kills with a .368 hitting percentage. Jackson, the freshman, also had 10 digs and four service aces.
Defensively, Livy Kowalkowski had 23 digs, while from the front row, Kayla Broom contributed six blocks.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Panthers cruised to an early lead, handily winning the first set 25-17. Georgia State never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Panthers took over the lead. Georgia State also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Georgia State continued to roll after a set-one win by earning a 25-22 victory in the second set. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to earn the victory. Georgia State opened up as much as a five point lead at 13-8 before finishing off the set. Georgia State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Elon attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Georgia State closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after grabbing the third set. The Panthers persevered in a back-and-forth set to win 26-24 in a stanza that featured 12 lead changes and was tied 18 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than two points along the way. Georgia State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Elon attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 13 Elon attacking errors on the way to victory.
