NASHVILLE— Georgia State men's soccer opened the 2023 regular season with a road matchup facing Belmont and came up short facing the Bruins, 1-0, on the road at E.S. Rose Park.
GSU fell behind in the match after a goal by Belmont in the 37th minute. The Panthers held the Bruins scoreless for the remainder of the outing, with Josh Hangi recording four saves on the night.Â
GSU recorded a total of five shots with five shots on frame. Justin McLean and Hideto Gondo led the team in shooting, each charting a pair of shots for the Panthers.
GSU drops to 0-1-0 on the season after the loss.
The Panthers return to the pitch on Monday, Aug. 28 for the team's regular-season home opener against UAB. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. ET with ESPN+ set to broadcast the match.
