Watson Honored as Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week

ATLANTA -- Georgia State senior Ryan Watson is the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week after throwing seven scoreless innings to lead the Panthers over Georgia Southern.

Making his final home start, the fifth-year senior struck out seven and allowed just five hits and one walk in Georgia State's 11-3 victory in the series opener, sending the Panthers to a three-game sweep of their in-state rival.

The Sugar Hill, Ga., native (North Gwinnett High School) improved to 6-0 with a 3.56 ERA in Sun Belt games in 2023.

Watson earned his 19th career victory, which is tied for third in Georgia State history.

Watson and the Panthers conclude the regular season this weekend at Old Dominion, beginning Thursday at 6 p.m.
