Georgia State Athletics mourns the loss of Jim Adams, one of the Panthers' earliest basketball standouts and a long-time supporter of Georgia State University and the Panther Athletic Club who died Monday in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Adams played basketball for the Panthers from 1963-66 and was named an Academic All-America in 1966. He was recognized as a Colonial Athletic Association Legend in 2005-06. 

James Marvin Adams, Jr., was born on March 1, 1944 in Decatur, Ga., and graduated from Decatur High School before attending Georgia State University and Emory University. He went on to a career in banking with SunTrust Bank.
 
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on November 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel in Snellville, GA. Interment will follow at The Adams family cemetery in Covington, Ga.
