Panthers Drop Game 2 at Sun Belt Leader James Madison

HARRISONBURG, VA --The Georgia State volleyball team fell to Sun Belt Conference leader James Madison in three sets (13-25, 16-25, 19-25) Friday on the road at JMU Convocation Center.

The loss dropped Georgia State's record to 5-14 overall and 2-6 in Sun Belt play.

Aaliyah Mitchell finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Panthers (5-14, 2-6 Sun Belt). GSU got 6 digs from Maren Palmer along with five blocks from Akira Burt to lead them defensively.

After four straight road games, Georgia State returns home next weekend to host rival Georgia Southern Friday and Saturday at the GSU Sports Arena.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Panthers found themselves in an early deficit, losing a tough first set 25-13. JMU grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was tied up just once before the Dukes took control.

SET 2 | Georgia State then dropped the second set 25-16 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. 

SET 3 | Georgia State could not win the third set and was swept by JMU. The Panthers dropped the set 25-19 despite a solid performance on the attacking side. Georgia State registered a .304 attack percentage with 10 kills in the set loss.
