Panthers Drop Second Straight One-Run Game

TROY, ALA. -- Georgia State dropped its second straight one run game at Troy, falling 3-2 as the Trojans scored the go-ahead runs in the eighth inning Sunday at Riddle-Pace Field.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the top of the sixth inning, the teams sat through a weather delay of 2:13.

When play resumed, it was still 1-1 until the bottom of the eighth when Troy took a 3-1 on a 2-run single by Caleb Bartolero in the bottom.

Dylan Strickland led off the top of the ninth with his first home run, but that was all the Panthers would get.

Making just his second start of the season and first on the weekend, Patel pitched 4.2 innings and allowed just one run on five hits. He struck out three and walked none.

Luke Boynton had two hits for GSU, including an RBI-single in the third, and Cameron Jones added two hits.

Troy swept the series, including back-to-back one-run games on Saturday and Sunday.

Georgia State returns to action Tuesday, when the Panthers travel to Alabama State for a 7 p.m. ET game.
