GEORGIA STATE (18-10, 7-2) vs. REINHARDT (25-14)
Wednesday, April 6 | 2 p.m. | GSU Baseball Complex

LEADING OFF

> Led by National and Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week Max Ryerson, Georgia State hosts a midweek game against in-state foe Reinhardt Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the GSU Baseball Complex.

> After sweeping Sun Belt preseason favorite South Alabama over the weekend, the Panthers are in second place in the conference, one game behind Top 10 Texas State.

> Off to its best start since 2011, GSU is receiving votes for the NCBWA Top 25.

> Max Ryerson (4 HR, 9 RBI) and the GSU bullpen (2 wins, 3 saves, 2.04 ERA, 19 K, .167 BA against) keyed Georgia State's first-ever sweep of South Alabama, 10-8, 4-3 and 9-5.

> Head coach Brad Stromdahl's squad  leads the Sun Belt with 42 home runs, including the top two individuals in Max Ryerson with 12 and Griffin Cheney with nine. The Panthers are second in the league in batting average (.297).

> Junior outfielder Max Ryerson is this week's National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game as well as Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after hitting .563 (9-for-16) with four homers and 10 RBI in four games last week.

> Georgia State features three Sun Belt Conference Players of the Week and two National Players of the Week in the last four weeks: 1B-LHP Cameron Jones (March 14, Sun Belt & National), Luke Boynton (March 21, Sun Belt) and Max Ryerson (Sun Belt & National).

> Max Ryerson leads the Sun Belt with 12 home runs (No. 7 in DI) as well as doubles (11) and total bases (90). He is second in slugging (.750), third in RBI (29) and seventh in batting average (.358).

> Super senior Griffin Cheney is second in the Sun Belt in batting average (.423) and home runs (8) while leading in on-base pct. (.524) and slugging (.800).

> The GSU bullpen has a 14-3 record with 13 saves. The bullpen trio of Cameron Jones, Ryan Watson and Chad Treadway have combined for a 6-1 record, 12 saves and a 1.24 ERA in 27 appearances with 59 strikeouts against seven walks.

> Junior Ryan Watson saved two wins in the Little Rock sweep and two more in the South Alabama sweep. He five saves on the season (tied for 3rd in Sun Belt) give him eight for his career, tied for fifth in GSU history. The right-hander is also the Panthers' active leader with 13 career victories.

> The Panthers hit 10 home runs in the series sweep of Little Rock, including five on Saturday (the most for GSU since 2016 vs. UT Arlington) and four more on Sunday. Luke Boynton homered in all three games, Max Ryerson hit two, and GSU also got long balls from Blaine Marchman, DeAngelo Abboud, Dalton Pearson, Chase Wullenweber and Will Mize.

> Georgia State earned a 6-1 win at No. 15 Clemson on March 15 for the Panthers' fifth victory over a Top 15-ranked opponent in the last two seasons. Griffin Cheney tied the school record with three home runs, and GSU pitchers Camren Landry, Chad Treadway and Joseph Brandon combined for 14 strikeouts.
