ATLANTA, GA - Georgia State (16-20, 6-6 Sun Belt) beat non- conference opponent Alabama State (16-22, 8-7 SWAC) on Tuesday at home by four (10-6).
Georgia State sealed the deal in the fifth inning when they scored six runs on six hits. Carolyn Deady hit her sixth Homerun of the season and added two RBIs to her resume.
In the first two innings Emily Hodnett struck out six batters to keep the Hornets scoreless before earning a run in the third with an RBI single. The Panthers fought back, tying the game by scoring on an error.Â
The Hornets took the lead in the top of the fifth from a two- run home run by Dodd. Skylar Chavez, Bailee Richardson, Sophie Mooney and Carolyn Deady came up big in the bottom of the fifth helping the Panthers take the lead back by four.Â
Daisy Hess hit a two RBI double, and then a RBI single by Deady helped stretch the Panthers lead to 10-3.Â
The Hornets did not give up as they scored three runs on three hits in the seventh but it just wasn't enough to overcome your Panthers.Â
Hodnett earned the win of the game as she only allowed three runs, three hits and struck out eight batters in four innings. She improves to 3-2 on the season.
The Panthers will travel to Texas this weekend to take on the Texas State Bobcats. Game series starts Friday at 7 p.m. ET. and will air on ESPN+.
