CHATTANOOGA -- Georgia State dropped a doubleheader at Chattanooga, 5-3 and 5-1, Tuesday afternoon at Frost Field.
Sophie Mooney drove in two runs for the Panthers (8-16).Â
Georgia State returns home for an eight-game homestand at the
Bob Heck Softball Complex, beginning Thursday with a doubleheader vs. Dartmouth at 12 noon. Then the Panthers open a Sun Belt Conference series against Appalachian State Friday at 5 p.m.
Game 1: Chattanooga 5, Georgia State 3
Georgia State fell to Chattanooga 5-3 in the first game of a doubleheader as the Mocs scored the go-ahead runs in the sixth inning.
The Panthers jumped in front with three runs in the top of the first, incuding an RBI-single by
Sophie Mooney.
Georgia State led 3-2 with two outs in the sixth inning when the Mocs loaded the bases. Then Acelyn Sellers cleared the bases with a double to give Chattanooga a 5-3 lead.
Game 2: Chattanooga 5, Georgia State 1
The Panthers got on the scoreboard in the first inning as
Emily Brown walked, advanced to second on a walk, stole third and then scored on a groundout by
Sophie Mooney.
But Chattanooga took the lead for good on Adison Keylon's 3-run homer in the second inning, and the Panthers could not mount a comeback.
