#PantherPros: Jacobs, Wright Drafted by USFL

Former Georgia State football standouts Brandon Wright and Dartez Jacobs were selected in the first USFL Draft.

Wright, the two-time All-Sun Belt Conference punter, was selected by the Tampa Bay Bandits, while Jacobs, a safety for Georgia State's first bowl team in 2015, was drafted by the New Orleans Breakers.

He made his NFL debut in 2020 for the Jacksonville Jaguars--one of eight former Panthers who have played at least one game in the NFL--and also spent time on the Los Angeles Rams roster.

Jacobs was a two-year letterwinner at safety in 2014-15. Since then, he has been playing overseas, most recently in Germany in the European League of Football.

The USFL, which last operated in 1985, returns to the spring football scene in 2022 with eight teams. The USFL is set to begin its 10-game, 12-week schedule in April.

For the 2022 USFL Draft, the teams picked from the same position pool in each round, and the draft used a modified snake format to ensure that each team received the top choice in two of the position-specific rounds.
